Updated over a week ago

Did you know you can use your DSLR or GoPro camera as a super high-quality webcam? Check out this overview video:

What you will need

  1. DSLR or GoPro camera.

  2. Capture software OR hardware capture device.

  3. Cable to connect the camera to your computer (if using software) or to your physical capture card.

  4. Continuous power cable solution.

  5. External microphone.

  6. Recommended - Good lighting & tripod.

Capture software

If you have a Nikon, Canon EOS or a Sony DSLR, you can use software to capture the signal directly from the camera.

Downloads & instructions:

Physical capture card (required if not using software)

As an alternative to the capture software, you can get a physical capture device which plugs into your computer's USB port. The benefits of the physical option over the software are:

  1. Ability to use an external microphone plugged into your camera.

  2. Better quality (YouTube video).

Here are a couple of physical capture card options:

Video cable (required)

You'll need to ensure that you have a cable to plug your camera into your computer or into your physical capture card.

Continuous power cable solution (highly recommended)

We recommend getting a continuous power solution for your camera so you don't run out of power halfway through your stream! Visit the Gonine store on Amazon (find your camera model).

External microphone (highly recommended)

We recommend a good quality quality microphone.
