With the recent rumors of Linktree removing NSFW accounts from its platform, there is some misunderstanding and confusion about what's allowed. We've done extensive research and compiled this guide to help you.

Linktree released a statement on January 16, 2022 β€œPer our company's policies, the Linktree accounts banned stemmed from sharing a URL which violated Community Standards by sharing advertisements for the sale of real-life sexual services.” This means the company is only blocking users who post links to IRL (in real life) sexual encounters and other services.

NOT Adult-friendly

Their Terms state that you may not monetize links to adult websites or adult content.

Their Acceptable Use Policy states that you can't use their sites, services or products to submit, post, build, host or otherwise make available any content that may contain, provide access to (e.g. Through links to third party websites) or promote adult content.

Their Terms state that pages having content related to nudity will be removed automatically.

Their Terms state that you are not allowed to publish any content that promotes, either directly or indirectly, pornography.

Adult-friendly

The following is a list of alternative adult-friendly link hub options that creators are using:

Slink
Based on the company's tweets and responses to Linktree news, they are adult/SW-friendly.

Their Terms and their official company statement (referenced above) says linking to adult websites is allowed, but IRL sexual encounters and other services is prohibited.

Their Community Standards says that if you're linking out to adult content on your page, you must turn on the sensitive content notice, ensure the content on your page itself are suitable for all ages, and make sure what you are linking to is legal in your region.

Their Terms say they are NOT 100% confirmed adult/SW-friendly, but they also don't explicitly prohibit adult content or websites. Use at your own discretion.

Create your own link hub

Alternatively, you can build your own link hub in WordPress if you want the peace of mind of owning and controlling it yourself.

  1. Purchase a "vanilla" domain (that doesn't contain adult/SW-related keywords - remember you're using this URL on social media and want to be compliant). If you already have a custom domain being used for a member site, you can get a second domain altogether, or use a sub-domain. First, read our article on important domain purchasing information.
